The Yorkville City Council last week approved a new agreement with KenCom Public Safety Dispatch. The agreement involves a new antenna which will go on the new city hall building at 651 Prairie Pointe Drive. City Administrator Bart Olson says it will increase the communication between the city and KenCom.

A city memo says the change will save the city between $500 to $1,000 per month. The city is eying sometime next year in the late winter or early spring to move into the Prairie Pointe Drive building from it's current location at 800 Game Farm Road.

The city council also agreed to cover the cost of railroad crossing repairs at the Poplar Drive Crossing to the tune of $185,000. It's operated by the Illinois Railway.

Olson says covering the repair of the crossing is part of an agreement from the 90's that the city has with the Railway.

Work is expected to begin in the spring. It should take a few weeks to complete.
